The Health and Wellness Ministry's mission is to empower each member of our faith community to become a good steward of his/her mind, body, and spirit. We are devoted to the integration of our faith with whole-person health, and our desire is to make Oakdale Emory a community where health is fostered and wellness is cherished as a part of God's will for His people of all ages.

The ministry is made up of interested members of our congregation (The Wellness Committee) and is facilitated by our two Faith Community Nurses (Parish Nurses). Committee members do not need to have to have a medical background, just an interest in wellness and health prevention and promotion.

The Faith Community Nurses act as health educators, health counselors, health advocates, volunteer coordinators, referral agents, health promoters and integrators of faith and health.

They are available for health consultations in the Bready Building by appointment on Thursdays between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for blood-pressure screenings and consultation on any health-related concerns.
