Hometown: Grew up in Durand, Michigan, a small farming community in Central Michigan, not far from East Lansing, home of Michigan State University, “the real” university of Michigan.

My Story: Farm boy from Michigan, moves to the big city, meets cute girl, settles down in Sandy Spring, Maryland, and raises a family. Wow, where did 25 years go?

Ministry Area: Chair, Finance Committee

Family: My son, Taylor, who is a senior in high school this year, my daughter, Madison, who is in 7th grade and my wife, Shirley, who helps keep us on all on the right schedules.

Passion: My family, I enjoy following Taylor’s varsity football and lacrosse games, Madison’s dance and horseback riding competitions, and playing tennis with Shirley on occasion.

Favorite Pastime Activities: Hanging out with my family—boating on the Chesapeake, skiing in the mountains or playing golf together. All four of us play and it’s a real joy to get to spend that time together, given everyone’s busy schedules.

Little-Known Fact: I have been seen on rare occasions sneaking out on my Harley for an afternoon cruise through the Maryland countryside.
