/files/Church Gallery/Staff/christy_Resized_300x326.jpgMy Story: I am the only girl in a family with three brothers. We moved twice before I was 9, and in 1972, settled in Olney. Prior to moving here, our family was very active in a Presbyterian church in Bowie, Maryland. I attended Sunday school at Oakdale Emory through my middle school years, but unfortunately was not able to develop a relationship with God or anyone else in the church. I graduated from Sherwood High School in 1981 and moved from Olney in 1982. After 16 lost and lonely years, I returned to Olney and Oakdale Emory. I was welcomed back with open arms. I joined OE in 2005 and came to Christ in 2006; this is where my story begins.

Ministry Area: I work as a Ministry Assistant, providing support for the pastoral staff and coordinating tasks with the office administrator. And because I am so blessed by the love of God, I want to share it with others through my involvement in the Celebrate Recovery Program here at Oakdale.

Family: I am a single mother with a wonderfully humorous and talented 17-year-old son, Ron. He is involved with the youth program at Oakdale and he has graduated frp, playing in the youth band “Dependent” to now playing drum with the Worship Band, which leads the Sunday morning coffeehouse service at 10: 30 in Brigham Hall. We do not have any pets right now, but I am looking for a family dog. We love to travel whenever we get a chance. Whether it’s hitting the slopes or beaches/lake, we always have a great time just hanging out.

Passion: I always wanted to be a mother and my greatest joy is watching my son grow up.

Favorite Pastime Activities:  Riding roller coasters and screaming as loud as I want, watching the Redskins “win” and enjoying the beauty of nature and God’s wonders.

Little-Known Fact: I am legally blind.
