Oakdale Emory - United Methodist Church

We support our missionary, Blake Wood, and his ministry, Impact Middle East with outreach to Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt.  Blake conducts a variety of programs including: church planting, pastoral training, and interfaith relations.  Oakdale Emory plans to provide ministry teams to support the work of Impact Middle East on an annual basis. In the summer of 2008 a team of four travelled to Egypt to conduct a four day seminar for emerging church leaders.  Additional service and witness trips are being planned. 

Blake's Latest News Letter:

Greetings from Cairo.  The family and I are back in the Middle East and are getting settled.  The three older kids have started back to school and are reconnecting with old friends and meeting new friends.  We are in the process of trying to find an appropriate three bedroom apartment to rent.  (Presently we are getting by in a two bedroom flat on the 6th floor, with no elevator, which makes life interesting with 5 kids ... one being an infant and another being only 3!)  Pray for us to find 'the right place.'  We would also appreciate if you would pray with us for:

* Blake as he travels to Jordan and Iraq the next couple weeks

* Lori as she stays back in Cairo with the kids during this time

* Our upcoming conference in North Africa at the end of the month (Sept. 30 - Oct. 3) where we will be training emerging leaders (approx. 40 - 50)  in House Church vision and skills.

* Funding needs for the 4 Quarter of this year; as well as for churches and individuals to make commitments for our 'Priority Projects' for 2009.

* Safety of our Iraqi leaders in Baghdad . . . for peace in Iraq.

Rejoice with us in that we returned to find three new House Churches running strong with three or four more on the horizon for the coming months.
