This Lenten Season, Oakdale Emory will explore Alpha, a seven-week video study designed for anyone who has questions about Christian belief and practice. The purpose of this church-wide study wil be two-fold: It will allow those of us that are firm in our beliefs to revisit the basics of Christianity and help us rediscover (or discover for the first time) why we believe what we believe. This will also provide us with a tool that we can later use to invite others (family, friends, neighbors...) to explore the basics. We will have personally been through the course and can comfortably invite and reach out to others with what we have learned through the study ourselves.

Small groups will meet weekly to watch a video focused on one aspect of Christianity and spend the remaining time in discussion. All kinds of questions are encouraged and the discussions are upbeat and lively. A retreat will be held on Saturday, March 20, at Oakdale Emory Church in Brigham Hall where we will hear about and discuss issues surrounding the Holy Spirit, led by Senior Pastor Kevin Baker. This one-day event will be packed with opportunity to praise our Lord, learn more about the mysteries of the Holy Spirit, as well as time for prayer, healing, and commiting/recommiting our lives to Christ.

At the end of this course, a celebration will be held with an opportunity for baptism in Brigham Hall on April 11 after our worship services.
